With Innovative School Funding and a little research, you can get deals like this! I received a $50 gift card from Ultra Diamonds (if I spent $79 or more), so I decided to get my wife something nice for Valentine's Day. What follows may not be typical, but it represents what is possible:
I logged into my Discover Card account, and doubled a $20 reward with Ultra Diamonds in order to get a $40 gift card. This is considered the same as cash, so it can be used in conjunction with other offers. Anyway, I now had $90 in gift cards burning a hole in my pocket, so I did a little shopping. Now, I love my wife and all that, but I tend to click on the "sort by price" link so I can find the least expensive jewelry items that work for me. I quickly found a pair of real ruby earrings for $99. The MSRP is $329, though we all know what that really means. I decided to go with the earrings, and after tax and free shipping, my total was $101.70. Minus $50 gift card and $40 Discover Rewards, and I paid (drumroll) $11.70. The great part about this is that Innovative School Funding still received credit for the Discover Rewards as if it was cash, so the commission is based off of a $49 purchase, and the donation comes to $2.94. Sure, my wife would have loved a $5000 diamond ring, and the $300 donation for that would have been nice, but this is an example of using online resources and Innovative School Funding to get a great deal AND give to the organization of your choice. |
